Welcome to Trolleyman.net
The purpose of this site is to share information about model trolleys and my home "O Scale" trolley layout. It is very much a "work in progress". Stop back frequently to see what's new.
NEW AS OF 2 September 2023:
I have mounted the first wall of the carbarn and installed the interior lights in the first bay of the carbarn.
NEW AS OF 22 August 2023:
I have started a discussion of the structure itself, which is kitbashed from IHC Engine House kits.
NEW AS OF 28 July 2023:
I have installed "trolley board" over Track 4 of the carbarn and operated trolleys on both Track 5 and Track 4. See page 3 of Carbarn Cnstruction.
NEW AS OF 5 JULY 2023:
I have installed my first "trolley board" over Track 5 of the carbarn and operated trolleys in the carbarn from this overhead. See pages 2 and 3 of Carbarn Construction.
NEW AS OF 25 APRIL 2023:
This site and my layout have been inactive for a long time due to medical issues in my family and the need to care for my wife. Unfortunately, she passed away late last year. I am now resuming my modeling and will be updating this site more regularly.
The East Penn Traction Club will be holding its National Trolley Meet in Allentown on May 18th, 19th, and 20th. I plan to have my layout open to visitors from that Meet on Sunday the 21st. So, I need to get crackin' and get the layout operational again.
I am also in the process of building the large 5 track carbarn. It will be the focal point of the layout. I have just finished "paving" the floor of the carbarn using plaster of paris. The building itself will be "kitbashed" from several IHC enginehouses. The carbarn will house 20 O scale trolleys. So it is quite large. See Carbarn Construction page for latest update (UPDATED 28 APRIL 2023)
NEW AS OF 9 NOV 2019:
NEW AS OF 4 OCT 2019: The Mayfair Electric will be open to visitors of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA), Mid-Eastern Region (MER) convention in King of Prussia, PA on Thursday and Friday nights, October 10th and 11th from 7PM to 11PM. The lights will be on and the trolleys will be running. If you can't visit, watch via the cams.
I have installed the grade crossing on the Torresdale Branch, complete with working flashers and bell. I have installed ATC relays on all Torresdale Branch modules except the loop itself. I have run up to 8 trolleys simultaneously. Still tweaking the overhead in places.
Still working on the ATC page. More How-To Clinics coming to this site.
New as of 28 June 2019: I have added a page about the status of my layout and added a page of web cams set up at various locations around the layout. If you click on the small box at the lower right hand corner of each camera window, that camera will be shown in full screen. Just click "esc" to return to the normal page layout.
